Tuesday's Controversy

Today might be The Day folks. We are closing in on 5000 unique visitors to the Dogs & Jeans' Cornucopia of Balderdash. So to really drive Bloggy Interest I am presenting a topic so controversial, it will push The Financial Crisis, The Hunt for Bin Laden and the Second Anniversary of Tom & Katie off off the front pages. I'm talking about Pudding.

I love pudding. It is a very underrated desert food. So many flavours, smooth and creamy, not too sweat and always satisfying. Often cheesecake or pumpkin pie it too much after a meal but, despite Jello's claim of ownership, pudding it the only desert there truly is room for. Always.

My favorite is Butterscotch. This works well for me because most people prefer Chocolate, so there is usually plenty of Butterscotch left for me.

Rice Pudding is okay on occasion, but it is more the Joe Mantegna of the pudding world.

I will stay out of the whole 'Custard: Pudding or Not' debate for the sake of the children, except to say that Tapioca is not pudding.

Care to weigh in on your position on pudding?

I agree that tapioca is not pudding but I love it! I was in a supermarket in France where a whole right side of an aisle was dedicated to the pudding family.

If I'm going to have pudding, it should be chocolate and have whipping cream.

I have issues with custard. It's not that I'm morally opposed...no, maybe I am.

When I lived in the UK, *any* dessert was referred to as *pudding*. That was confusing for me for the first few weeks...

Awwww...you're so sweet.

Yeah, my friend George has a killer homemade rice pudding recipe.

Oh butterscotch, *melt*. I love it! Chocolate and vanilla are delicious too!

I prefer my pudding like I prefer my men...clean and with skin removed! (That was my lame attempt at a foreskin joke, which has nothing at all to do with pudding)

Hubby and I made up a pudding shot for a liquor promotion many moons ago (when I actually got paid for working) - It was made with...wait for it..JB Scotch and Bailey's Irish Cream and Butterscotch Pudding. We called it "Butter Me Up Scotty". made a lot of money for that one!

I am not a big fan of pudding. Never have been,

I've got a weird issue about the texture of food. I don't like pudding, whipped cream, cottage cheese, mayo, yogurt, jell-o, Cool Whip, sour cream...

I know you didn't ask for all that info. Sorry.

I'm a Butterscotch woman all the way!
I don't believe I've ever had Rice Pudding though, maybe as a kid, but I don't recall.
Do you prefer the Instant Variety or the Cook-It variety?

gotta love the butterscotch. But bread pudding with apples? Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeelightful!!

Jenn @ Juggling Life said...

Pudding is excellent, but only if it is homemade. You're right--we should eat more pudding. Not big on the Jell-O.

Thank you bringing this underrated dessert out of the darkness and into the light as it deserves!

you've.never.had.homemade.rice.pudding????

what a sad, scary world you have lived in. my grandfather used to make the best rice pudding ever. sometimes he'd put raisins in it. then we'd have the inevitable argument as to whether they represented dead flies or boogers. yes, we were not well. but the pudding was divine.

I do not enjoy tapioca which we used to call "fish eyes and glue" when I was a kidlet. Bleeccchhh.
